Always a treat to deliver the portraiture workshop at Machynlleth Comedy Festival - this year with marvellous performers/writers/podcasters Margaret Cabourn-Smith and Benjamin Partridge modelling.
Margaret's dynamic poses were inspired by both yoga and responses to artists' suggestions (including being harrassed by a bee), whereas Benjamin - wearing nothing but a banjo and a smile, recalling the life drawing origins of the session - gave us more traditional, Classical compositions. As ever, the artists - working in charcoal and oil pastels, and including two who had never drawn from life before - produced beautiful work, a selection of which was later exhibited in the Owain Glyndŵr beer tent.
Big thanks to all involved, and to the Tabernacl Gallery, whose lovely studio we use.
