Very pleased to confirm my forthcoming London exhibition at Waterstones bookshop, Bloomsbury, featuring a selection of literary portraits made for Terry Victor’s 2017 Edinburgh show, Well Thumbed. Over the coming months I’ll add to the series, focusing on a few of the many celebrated writers with specific Bloomsbury connections.
Making these pictures is very different from anything else I’ve done – working from photographs, paintings and other sources (or, in the case of Gwerful Mechain, pictured, for whom no contemporary image exists, from my imagination) – and I’m thrilled that what started as a fun side-project with Terry has taken on a life of its own. Very grateful to Waterstones for their support, and looking forward to putting the show together.
The exhibition will run from October 29th to November 24th, and will also feature a selection of dance paintings.
Private view on November 2nd, 6.30 to 8.30pm.
