Opening of Painting Dance

My exhibition Painting Dance at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, is now open.

Marking the end of an eleven-month project, supported by Arts Council of Wales, the show features sixty-four paintings and drawings inspired by Ballet Cymru dancers and choreographers. Pictures are hung across five areas of the venue, including the two main Glanfa balconies and the landings on the Angorfa side of the building.

As I hung the show (and before lighting and labelling was in place), I recorded a few short videos:

The opening of the exhibition – part of the venue’s fifteenth anniversary celebrations – was accompanied by drawing workshops, beautifully modelled by company dancers Danila Marzilli and Robbie Moorcroft, during which guests were able to turn their hands to sketching from life. It was great to see the range of styles and approaches people took, particularly among those who had never done anything like it before. Much lovely work. Hats off to all!

Many thanks to all who came along and made the evening such fun.

Pictures are for sale, with price lists available from the Box Office. Please contact me with any enquiries.

Exhibition runs until January 5th.
